The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) on July 30, 2026, notified regarding the permitting of the Point of Presence (PoP) for engagement of ‘other persons’ as Pension Agents for distribution of Pension Schemes.
PFRDA has expanded the categories of entities eligible to act as Pension Agents under the PFRDA (Point of Presence) Regulations, 2018. Point of Presence (PoP) entities are now permitted to engage Cluster-Based Business Organisations (CBBOs) associated with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and registered Co-operative Societies/Unions/Federations as Pension Agents for distributing PFRDA-regulated pension schemes. Engagement of Co-operative entities is subject to enhanced due diligence, including assessment of their financial viability.
All existing operational conditions under earlier Pension Agent circulars will continue to apply.
